Barcelona defeated Celta Vigo 4-2 on Sunday, closing the gap on La Liga leaders Real Madrid, thanks to a superb Robert Lewandowski hat-trick.
The Polish striker opened the scoring with a penalty in the 10th minute, but Sergio Carreira immediately leveled for Celta Vigo.
Lewandowski restored the lead in the 37th minute from a Marcus Rashford cross. However, Celta hit back again through Borja Iglesias just before halftime.
Teenager Lamine Yamal snatched the lead for Barcelona once more in stoppage time (45’+4), assisted by Rashford’s deflected cross.
Lewandowski completed his hat-trick in the 73rd minute, heading in a corner, again provided by Rashford, to secure the 4-2 win. The victory allowed Barcelona to capitalize on Real Madrid’s earlier draw.
Barcelona finished the match with 10 men after Frenkie de Jong received a second yellow card in added time.
