Uganda Cranes forward Rogers Mato can’t stop scoring in North Macedonia, and neither can FK Vardar stop winning.
The 22-year-old forward was once again on the scoresheet as Vardar defeated Tikves 3–1 on Sunday, netting the third goal to seal the result and calm the nerves of the home fans.
That strike took Mato’s season tally to 12 goals, making him the joint top scorer in the Macedonian top flight alongside Bassirou Compaoré of Struga.
Vardar’s latest win keeps them firmly at the summit of the 12-team table with 33 points from 13 matches, extending their unbeaten run and strengthening their push for the title.
Mato’s purple patch continues to sparkle, he has now scored in three consecutive games, finding the back of the net against Sileks, Pelister, and Tikves.
The former KCCA FC attacker will be aiming to make it four in a row when Vardar travel to face struggling Shkupi on November 23, right after the international break.
For now, the focus shifts to national duty. Mato has linked up with the Uganda Cranes for upcoming international friendlies against Chad and Morocco, hoping to carry his red-hot club form onto the international stage.
