Jimmy Kintu Leaves Calvary After Just Five Games

Uganda Premier League newcomers Calvary have parted ways with head coach Jimmy Kintu Mwera, barely five matches into the club’s maiden season in the Uganda Premier League.

Kintu’s exit comes amid a difficult start to life in the top flight for the Midigo‑based side, which has struggled both on and off the pitch since earning promotion.

The former St. Noa Girls (Zana) head coach joined Calvary on a two‑year contract, taking over from Simon Otim, the man who led the club to historic promotion last season.

Kintu also previously coached at Kyetume FC and Uganda Christian University (UCU) in the University Football League. However, his tenure at Calvary was short‑lived, with the team managing just one point out of a possible 15.

The club drew 1–1 against Maroons at Luzira but suffered four defeats: 3–1 to Lugazi, 2–0 to Buhimba Saints, 4–2 to KCCA FC, and 4–2 to Entebbe UPPC FC.

Calvary have now begun the search for a new head coach as it looks to stabilize the season and avoid an immediate return to the FUFA Big League.
