Chelsea midfielder Romeo Lavia has suffered a quadriceps injury and is expected to miss at least one month of action.
The 21-year-old was injured just four minutes into last week’s 2-2 Champions League draw at Qarabag.
This is the latest setback in an injury-plagued two and a half seasons since his £53 million move from Southampton in 2023.
Lavia has made only 29 appearances for the club, missing 88 matches overall. He has yet to complete a full 90 minutes.
The injury rules him out of a crucial set of fixtures, including games against Arsenal, Barcelona, and Atalanta.
Despite the blow, Chelsea remains third in the Premier League.
