Four African football nations, Nigeria, Cameroon, DR Congo, and Gabon, will compete this week in a high-stakes, winner-takes-all mini-tournament in Morocco for the continent’s final path to the 2026 Fifa World Cup.
Having missed the automatic qualification spots, the four best second-placed teams will now face a knockout round:
Semi-final 1 | Nigeria vs. Gabon | Thursday, 16:00 GMT
Semi-final 2 | Cameroon vs. DR Congo | Thursday, 19:00 GMT
The two winners meet on Sunday to determine the African representative.
This winner will then proceed to a final six-team Intercontinental Play-off tournament in March 2026, where they will need only one or two final victories to reach the global tournament.
Nigeria, featuring star Victor Osimhen, enters as the highest-ranked side but struggled in qualifying, while Gabon and its potent attack, led by Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, boasted the best group-stage record among the four contenders.
