Newcastle United striker Nick Woltemade scored both goals as Germany defeated Luxembourg 2-0 in their UEFA World Cup Qualifier on Friday.
After a frustrating, goalless first half, the 23-year-old Woltemade broke the deadlock in the 49th minute from a Leroy Sané cross, before sealing the victory in the 69th minute, converting an assist from Ridle Baku.
The win lifts Germany to the top of Group A on goal difference, level with Slovakia.
The two nations, who both clinched a top-two finish, will face each other in their final match on Monday, November 17, to decide the automatic qualification spot for the 2026 World Cup.
The goals continue Woltemade’s fine form, following his six goals scored for Newcastle this season.
