UPL side Kitara FC issued a statement yesterday regarding the health status of forward Jude Ssemugabi, who was rushed to the hospital after losing consciousness during their UPL clash with Wakiso Giants at their home ground in Masindi. Kitara FC secured a 1-0 victory in the match.
The statement, published on the club’s social media accounts, read:
“Our player, Jude Ssemugabi, was evacuated off the pitch in an ambulance and rushed to Mirembe Hospital in Masindi after falling unconscious during our Uganda Premier League match against Wakiso Giants FC. At the hospital, resuscitation was performed along with other medical procedures, and he stabilized. A scan revealed no abnormalities in his internal organs. Ssemugabi has been discharged, and the club’s medical team will closely monitor him at home. We continue to pray for his full recovery.”
Jude Ssemugabi joined Kitara FC on a one-year deal from Mbarara City as a free agent, having previously served as a player with the Mbarara-based side for six years.
Kitara FC currently leads the UPL table, having played 19 games and accumulated 39 points. Their path to silverware could become inevitable if they continue their current form.
