Is Michael Wokorach the GOAT of Ugandan Rugby?

Uganda has completed the pool phase at the 2025 Rugby Africa Women’s 7s in Nairobi with a clean record following two victories over Burkina Faso and Zambia.

The Lady Rugby Cranes flew over Burkina Faso by an unanswered half-century in a match where the gap in quality and experience was clear for all to see. Burkina Faso got a baptism by fire while Uganda had a soft landing on their return to the RFUEA Grounds a month after the Safari 7s.

However, Zambia brought the Lady Rugby Cranes back to earth. The Southern Africans scored two tries; capitalising on mistakes made on attack. Additionally, the Lady Rugby Cranes were unable to convert any of their tries, even right in front of the poles.

Perhaps that’s the wake-up call Uganda needed as the tournament geared up for the business end.

Uganda topped Pool C and will face Tunisia in the Quarterfinals on Day Two (Sunday).

Rugby Africa Women’s 7s – Quarterfinal Fixture:
• 9.44 a.m.: Uganda vs Tunisia

Tunisia beat Egypt by 22-00 but lost to Madagascar, 21-14, in Pool D’s action.

The winner from this quarterfinal match will that from the quarterfinal between Kenya and Zimbabwe.

On the other side of the knockout bracket, defending champions South Africa will face Ghana while Madagascar will take on Zambia.
