Arsenal’s Premier League title campaign faces concern after key defender Gabriel suffered a groin injury while playing for Brazil in a friendly against Senegal.
The 27-year-old pulled up off the ball just before the hour mark and was substituted. Brazil manager Carlo Ancelotti confirmed it was an adductor injury, but the severity is currently unknown, stating Gabriel will be assessed on Sunday.
Gabriel is crucial to Arsenal’s league-best defence, which has conceded only five goals this season.
His fitness is now a major concern ahead of crucial upcoming fixtures against North London rivals Tottenham (Nov 23) and Bayern Munich.
In related news, fellow Arsenal defender Riccardo Calafiori has also left the Italy camp as a precautionary measure for load management.
