Tottenham manager Thomas Frank has made a stunning revelation: he was interviewed by both Manchester United and Chelsea on the same day—May 24, 2024—while still in charge of Brentford.
The 52-year-old Danish coach, who built Brentford into a stable Premier League side, disclosed the details in his forthcoming book.
The extraordinary managerial search day began with an “unconventional” meeting with United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe inside the billionaire’s garage. Frank then travelled across London for talks with Chelsea.
“Sitting down to talk to two of the ten biggest clubs in the world, two hours apart, is quite unique,” Frank told TV2.
Despite missing out on both jobs that summer—United kept Erik ten Hag and Chelsea hired Enzo Maresca—the experience underlined his progression.
Frank eventually joined Spurs in the summer of 2025, succeeding Ange Postecoglou. His tenure faces its first major test this week with the North London derby against Arsenal at the Emirates.
