Rugby Uganda Cup 2025 – Quarterfinal Results
• Q1: Stanbic Black Pirates 68-20 Impis

The Sea Robbers piled sixty-eight points on the Makerere boys who only managed twenty in a rather one-sided encounter.

Pirates hit the ground running early in the first half and scored tries through outside backs Haruna Mohammed and Jeremiah Okello before Isaac Massanganzira kicked a penalty to make it 20-00 before the water break.

Impis recovered through two penalties by Darren Aine before Pirates resumed the onslaught with a William Nkore penalty, tries from Alvin Rukundo and Jones Kamiza plus two Massanganzira conversions.

It was 35-06 at the break with the Pirates firmly in charge at their own backyard.

After the break, there was no change in proceedings.

Conrad Wanyama scored (conversion by Massanganzira) then Impis responded through Pius Mpoza (conversion by Aine). Then Sydney Gongodyo and Allan Karuhanga bagged a brace each (all converted by Nkore) as Pirates sailed away easily.

Impis got a consolation try and conversion through Jonathan Kituuka and Aine as their 2025 season came to a calamitous conclusion.

Pirates were victorious by 68-20, setting up a semifinal clash against rivals KCB KOBs next Saturday.

KOBs beat Rhinos, 36-17, in the other Friday evening quarterfinal at the former Kampala (Legends) Rugby Club.

Pending confirmation from URU, this match is expected to be played at Kings Park since Pirates had the superior points differential in the quarterfinal stage.

Action in the Uganda Cup resumes on Sunday afternoon with the other side of the quarterfinal knockout bracket.

Defending champions Heathens will face Lifeguard Rams in a repeat of the 2023 final while Hippos will take on Toyota Buffaloes.
