Dennis Mbaziira closed out his campaign at the Islamic Solidarity Games with a steady and disciplined run in one of the event’s toughest para powerlifting divisions.
The Ugandan contender opened with a clean 150kg lift, followed it up with 158kg, and pushed for 162kg on his final attempt.
The last lift did not land, but his early execution kept him in the mix through a stacked field at Boulevard SEF 01A Arena in Riyadh.
The division was led by Iran’s Roohallah Rostami, who took gold with a commanding series of 225kg, 230kg, and 235kg.
Iraq’s Rasool Mohsin secured silver after clearing 220kg and 227kg, while Uzbekistan’s Bekzod Jamilov claimed bronze with lifts of 215kg and 219kg.
Mbaziira finished ninth out of eleven competitors, a result that underlined both his resilience and his growing standing in regional para powerlifting.
