Liverpool manager Arne Slot is not in imminent danger of being sacked, despite the club’s “disastrous” start to the Premier League season.
The reigning champions hit a new low on Saturday with an abject 3-0 loss at home to Nottingham Forest.
This defeat leaves Liverpool in 11th place, their lowest position in a decade, after losing six of their last seven league matches. They are already 11 points behind leaders Arsenal.
Despite the rapid decline, which follows a massive £450 million summer spend, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), are not considering a managerial change at this time.
“Liverpool are not thinking about changing the manager now,” Romano stated, though he added that the situation is “dangerous and complicated” and the club expects far better results and performances soon.
Slot retains the backing of the hierarchy, but the need for a turnaround is critical as Liverpool prepares to face PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League on Wednesday and West Ham next weekend.
