Kawempe Muslim strengthened their position at the top of the Finance Trust Bank FUFA Women Super League with a tight 1 to 0 win over Lady Doves in Masindi on Sunday.
Asia Nakibuuka scored in the fifth minute and that early moment decided the contest, giving Ayub Khalifa’s team a seventh consecutive victory and extending their unbeaten start to the season.
Kawempe managed the match with control after the early breakthrough, limiting Lady Doves and seeing out the game with confidence.
The four time champions have not lost since the season kicked off.
Their only dropped points came on the opening day in the one to one draw with Kampala Queens. Since then, they have beaten Olila High School, St. Noa, Uganda Martyrs, She Maroons, She Corporate and Amus College, keeping four clean sheets in the process.
The win was even more valuable after Kampala Queens slipped to a two to zero defeat against She Maroons in Luzira. Kawempe now stand on 22 points, five clear of both Kampala Queens and She Corporate after eight matchdays.
Kawempe return to action on Saturday at home against Asubo Ladies, who remain in the relegation fight. Victory would push Kawempe further ahead as the first round approaches its close.
