Liverpool’s season has descended into a full-blown crisis, suffering a humiliating 4-1 Champions League defeat to PSV at Anfield.
This marks the club’s worst run in 71 years, with nine defeats in 12 matches—a streak not seen since 1953-54. They have also lost three consecutive games by a three-goal margin for the first time since December 1953.
Manager Arne Slot is under intense pressure. Midfielder Curtis Jones called the situation “unacceptable,” stating, “I’m past being angry inside.” Former captain Steven Gerrard warned that Slot must find “answers and stability” to prevent the situation from becoming a full-blown crisis.
Slot admitted the slump is a “shock for everyone,” as questions mount over the failure of his summer signings, including record transfer Alexander Isak.
Despite the shocking run, Slot remains focused on improving the team ahead of a crucial trip to West Ham on Sunday, followed by tough Champions League fixtures.
