Shai Gilgeous-Alexander overcame illness to score 40 points, powering the Oklahoma City Thunder to their 10th consecutive victory, 113-105, over the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Thunder (18-1) are now 3-0 in the NBA Cup. Gilgeous-Alexander, last season’s MVP, extended his streak of 20+ point games to 91—the third longest in NBA history. Anthony Edwards led the struggling Timberwolves with 31 points.
In another game, Toronto Raptors qualified for the quarter-finals of the NBA Cup with their ninth straight win, defeating the Indiana Pacers 97-95 on a last-second basket by Brandon Ingram.
Meanwhile, the Boston Celtics halted the Detroit Pistons’ 13-game winning streak. Jaylen Brown posted 33 points and 10 rebounds in the Celtics’ 117-114 home victory.
Also, Reed Sheppard scored a career-high 31 points as the Houston Rockets edged the Golden State Warriors, 104-100.
