Newcastle United delivered a stunning 4-1 victory over Everton, finally ending their seven-month Premier League travel sickness.
The emphatic win was a perfect birthday gift for manager Eddie Howe, who admitted he was “fed up” with the team’s previous away form.
Defender Malick Thiaw was the unlikely hero, scoring two headers—including the fastest goal of the season after 55 seconds. Lewis Miley, who also registered an assist, and Nick Woltemade added the other goals.
Howe’s decision to make six changes, including bringing in Lewis Miley, Anthony Elanga, and goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale, proved crucial.
The rotation brought fresh energy and a new mentality, allowing Newcastle to maintain their lead after previously squandering early advantages on the road.
“We have work to do on our away form,” Howe stated after the game, “but today was a big step forward.”
