Isaac Mariera and Lillian Koowe took the top honours at the 2025 I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series finale held on Saturday at Entebbe Club.
Mariera won the overall men’s title with a net score of 68, while Koowe secured the women’s overall crown with 75.
Both golfers received RwandAir return tickets to any destination on the airline’s network, along with a weekend for two at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa.
Mariera described the win as exciting and a bit overwhelming, noting that it raises expectations on his future performances.
Koowe highlighted the demands of the In Regulation format and said her focus was on consistent approaches and a steady short game.
The finale drew more than 150 golfers from clubs across the country, closing the season with a full field and strong competition.
Katogo Captain Elly Mukasa said the series had set a high standard this year and that organisers plan to build on lessons from each edition to deliver better events next season.
I&M Bank CEO Robin Bairstow credited the series’ growth to the combined effort of all stakeholders, pointing to the varied formats and unique experiences that define each event.
At the prize giving, Katogo patrons Hon. Kiryowa Kiwanuka and Edward Kabuchu were recognised for founding the series.
Hon. Kiryowa thanked I&M Bank for turning the competition into a regional affair, while Kabuchu noted that the scale of the series has surpassed their early expectations.
The organisers also recognised Bairstow and I&M Bank’s marketing head Annette Nakiyaga for their role in elevating the series, along with other sponsors including Johnnie Walker, Victoria Motors, GA Insurance, RwandAir, Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa, Kampala Serena Hotel, Fenon Events, Goldman’s Luxury, NBS Sport, Case Hospital, and Time Cop Security.
From the day’s competition, Paul Nuwagaba won Group A with nett 77, Kevin Ninyesiga topped Group B on nett 79 count back, and Timothy Musiime claimed Group C with nett 77 off handicap 34.
Michael Tumusiime won the men’s gross title with 74. On the women’s side, Uganda Golf Union Lady President Rita Apell won Group A, while Edith Wamalwa led Group B with nett 83. Winners in the series quiz received Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve bottles.
The blue themed after par tee featured a performance by Elijah Kitaka, with comedian Salvado hosting and DJ Shock keeping the music throughout the night.
