Uganda has sent an 18 player contingent to Zimbabwe for the 2025 African Youth Chess Championship, which will run from 7 to 13 December in Harare.
The group includes 10 boys and 8 girls who will compete against young talent from 18 countries, with qualification places for the 2026 World Youth Championship on the line.
The team will feature players across six age brackets: U18, U16, U14, U12, U10, and U8. Officials described the group as a blend of experienced juniors and upcoming prodigies who have shown strong progress throughout the year.
The championship is expected to draw a deep field of contenders, but Uganda’s steady improvement in recent youth events has raised hopes for a breakthrough.
