Uganda added two more medals to its tally at the African Youth Games in Angola after Jemima Nakawala and Joseph Sebatindira claimed bronze in the singles events.
Sebatindira reached the semifinal where he fell 4 to 1 to Tunisia’s Youssef Aidli, the under 15 African champion. He had drawn level at 1 to 1 but could not keep the pace against the top seed.
He later played a position match and lost 3 to 2 to Nigeria’s Fabunmi Mathew, finishing with bronze.
Nakawala faced Egypt’s Elbadawy in her semifinal and lost 4 to 1. She recovered in the position match, edging Algeria’s Morice Tania 3 to 2 to confirm her bronze.
Their performances lifted Uganda’s medal count to three bronze medals so far at the Games. The other medal came from Keren Chelimo in the women’s 3000 metres.
