The Opta supercomputer predicts Morocco will lift the Africa Cup of Nations trophy on home soil, giving the Atlas Lions a tournament-high 19.1% probability of victory.
Fueled by an international record 18-game winning streak and the form of African Player of the Year Achraf Hakimi, Morocco are the clear frontrunners heading into the tournament, which starts on December 21.
The competition is expected to be fierce, with three other nations closely grouped behind Morocco:
Egypt (12.4%): Led by Mohamed Salah, the seven-time champions are the second favourite.
Senegal (12.3%): The 2021 titleholders boast the highest chance of reaching the last 16 (95.4%).
Algeria (12.0%): The 2019 champions round out the top four.
Defending champions Côte d’Ivoire are given a modest 6.7% chance of retaining the title, while 2023 runners-up Nigeria are next with a 7.3% chance, facing a difficult Group C against Tunisia.
