The Guinness powered NGO League Season 6 reaches its decisive stage this Saturday, December 20, with the semifinals and championship final scheduled for King’s Park Arena in Bweyogerere.
The final four were confirmed after an eventful penultimate round last month that featured both the Round of 16 and quarterfinal fixtures.
The quarterfinals produced several standout results, including the exit of defending champions Los Bandidos, who were edged out 1 0 by Season 4 runners up Ba Musaayi Muto following a decisive strike from Humphrey Enyang.
Hornbills advanced with a commanding 3 0 victory over FC Butida, continuing their strong defensive run, while Ba Guy maintained their impressive backline by overcoming Tyrants 2 1. The biggest upset of the round came from the Barbarians, who overturned Pool A leaders AFewGoodMen with a 3 1 comeback victory. After trailing early, captain Andrew Hygie drew them level before league top scorer Ivan Otai struck twice, taking his season tally to 12 goals and strengthening his lead at the top of the scoring charts.
Those results set up the semifinals, with Ba Guy facing the Barbarians and Hornbills meeting Ba Musaayi Muto.
The first semifinal pits Ba Guy’s structured and disciplined approach against a Barbarians side full of confidence after their quarterfinal turnaround. Much of the focus will be on Ivan Otai, whose finishing has been decisive throughout the campaign, while Ba Guy are expected to rely on tactical organisation, set pieces and counterattacks to limit his influence.
The second semifinal brings together Hornbills and Ba Musaayi Muto in what is expected to be a tight contest. Hornbills arrive with consecutive clean sheets, anchored by goalkeeper Ibrahim Kakaire, while Ba Musaayi Muto carry momentum from eliminating Los Bandidos. With both sides comfortable in low margin games, small details and moments of execution are likely to decide the outcome.
Guinness, the league sponsor, has continued to support the growth of the competition. Mercy Atwongyeire, Project Manager for Premium Beer at Uganda Breweries Limited, said, “The passion, commitment and energy displayed throughout the season reflect the incredible growth of the NGO League. Guinness is proud to partner with the league as it continues to inspire community, talent and competition.”
The Season 6 finale will also feature entertainment performances, with DJ Denzel and DJ Sharon Shaz among the acts set to take part.
