A legend’s return kept Zimbabwe’s AFCON hopes flickering as the Warriors fought back to secure a 1-1 draw against Angola on Friday.
Angola struck first in the 24th minute when Gelson Dala rifled home a chipped pass from To Carneiro.
Zimbabwe equalized deep into first-half stoppage time through returning talisman Knowledge Musona, who expertly finished a Bill Antonio cross.
Veteran goalkeeper Washington Arubi was instrumental, making several vital close-range saves in the second half to deny Angola a winner.
Zimbabwe lost defender Teenage Hadebe to injury early in the match, adding to Coach Mario Marinica’s squad concerns.
Both teams now have one point in Group B. To reach the knockout stages, Zimbabwe must now defeat South Africa in their final group match on Monday.
