AFC Bournemouth have completed the signing of 20-year-old midfielder Alex Toth from Ferencvaros. Toth joins the Cherries on a five-and-a-half-year deal for an initial £10.4m, with a further £2.6m possible in add-ons.
Despite interest from Benfica, Galatasaray, and Lazio, the Hungarian international chose the Premier League, citing the club’s “great structure.”
Toth, who has nine caps for his country, is the second Hungarian on the squad alongside Milos Kerkez.
Known as a “deep-lying creator,” Toth can play as a holding midfielder, a box-to-box number eight, or a number ten.
He arrives with 52 appearances for Ferencvaros and significant Europa League experience.
Head of football operations Tiago Pinto noted Toth’s suitability for Andoni Iraola’s high-intensity pressing system.
Toth is Bournemouth’s third January signing, following goalkeeper Fraser Forster and defender Ade Solanke.
