Lewis Hamilton has labeled Formula 1’s 2026 regulation shift the “biggest challenge” of his career as Ferrari officially unveiled their new challenger, the SF-26.
Following a winless 2025 campaign, Ferrari is banking on the radical rules—which feature smaller cars, active aerodynamics, and a 50-50 power split between combustion and electrical energy—to return to the front.
“It will be an extremely important year from a technical perspective,” Hamilton said. “The 2026 season represents a huge challenge… probably the biggest regulation change I have experienced.”
The SF-26 completed a shakedown at Fiorano on Friday. Drivers must now focus heavily on manual energy management and new “overtake” modes.
A private test begins in Barcelona next Monday, followed by official sessions in Bahrain this February. The first Grand Prix takes place in Australia, March 6-8.
Technical Director Loic Serra noted the car’s design prioritizes “flexibility” for mid-season development, a crucial factor as Ferrari faces immense pressure to perform after their recent slump.
