Victor Kalenzi and Holly Agamile emerged as the overall boys’ and girls’ champions at the 2026 Entebbe Junior Open, which brought together young golfers at the par 71 Entebbe Club.
More than 50 juniors aged between three and 18 years competed across nine-hole and 18-hole categories in the annual event, organised by the Entebbe Ladies Section under Lady Captain Maureen Okura.
The tournament forms part of Entebbe Club’s long-term plan to grow the game among young players and ensure continuity, with this year’s edition also featuring a CPR training session to equip participants with basic life-saving skills.
Kalenzi topped the boys’ category after returning a gross score of 86 over 18 holes, while Agamile claimed the girls’ title with a score of 115. Kalenzi credited his driving accuracy for keeping him on the fairway throughout the round, while Agamile pointed to consistent practice as key to executing her shots on the course.
During the prize-giving ceremony at the MTN Pod, Entebbe Club captain Serwano Walusimbi praised parents for their continued support of junior golfers and pledged that the club would introduce more flexible junior membership packages to encourage wider participation. He also reaffirmed the club’s commitment to supporting junior golf development.
Lady Captain Okura described the turnout as encouraging, thanked sponsors for making the tournament possible, and highlighted her excitement at the scores returned by the juniors. She urged players to keep competing and encouraged parents to enrol their children in the Lady Captain Golf Training Programme, which focuses on recruitment and development of young golfers.
The Entebbe Junior Open is scheduled to return in 2027 at its home venue of Entebbe Club.
