Uganda Cranes forward Rogers Mato made his long-awaited move to the Scottish Premiership, joining league leaders Hearts.
Mato made his debut over the weekend, featuring in the match against Dundee United.
However, the action didn’t stop there.
Another Uganda Cranes forward, Uche Mubiru, has also secured a transfer, this time in the Scottish Championship, moving from St. Johnstone to Ross County.

“I’m excited to get started and hopefully score plenty of goals for Ross County,” Mubiru said after his unveiling.
Mubiru, who was part of Uganda’s squad at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, scored the Cranes’ only goal in their 1-1 draw against Tanzania.
The 30-year-old made 20 appearances for St. Johnstone, scoring four goals in the process.

“Uche adds a different dimension to our forward line,” said Ross County manager Stuart Kettlewell.
“He’s a strong presence up front and can be a real handful in the final third.”
“His attitude and hunger are exactly what we need, and I’m looking forward to working with him.”

Mubiru brings plenty of experience to his new club, having previously played for clubs in both Scotland and England, including Middlesbrough, Cardiff City, and even Hearts, where his international teammate Mato now plays.
“He brings a wealth of experience, having played in both Scotland and England, as well as earning six international caps for Uganda,” Kettlewell added.
Mubiru’s most recent move came after a brief stint with Turkish club Konyaspor in 2023, but now, he’s back in Scotland, aiming to make an impact for Ross County.
