Uganda Sends Three Athletes to Egypt for Olympic Wushu Camp

Three Ugandan athletes have travelled to Egypt to take part in a high level Olympic Wushu training camp and the 2026 African Wushu Championship, marking another step in the country’s growing presence in martial arts on the continent.

Kizito Robert, Lubega Haytham, and Nayiga Nahia are representing Uganda under the Zurkhaneh Uganda and Wushu Association. The camp, which runs from February 1 to February 14, is organised by the Egyptian Wushu Kung Fu Federation in partnership with Olympic Solidarity.

Eddie Gombya, the chairman of Zurkhaneh Uganda and Wushu Association, said the programme will be central to preparing and qualifying the athletes for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. He described the camp as a key part of Uganda’s long term talent development pathway.

The training brings together some of Africa’s top emerging wushu athletes and is designed to sharpen technical ability, improve competition readiness, and expose participants to elite international standards.

Uganda’s participation underlines the country’s steady investment in martial arts development and its ambition to prepare young athletes for success at major continental and global competitions.
