Arsenal reached their first major final in nearly six years after a 4-2 aggregate victory over Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-final.
A late goal from Kai Havertz at the Emirates sealed the win, ending a streak of four consecutive semi-final exits for Mikel Arteta’s side.
“We’ve been waiting years to get into this position,” Arteta said. “The joy and energy at the club right now is magical.”
Currently six points clear at the top of the Premier League and dominant in the Champions League, the Gunners are increasingly viewed as genuine trophy contenders rather than “nearly-men.”
Former defender Matt Upson noted that this win provides the “psychological boost” needed for their title charge.
Arsenal will face either Manchester City or Newcastle in the final on March 22, seeking their first League Cup trophy in 33 years.
