The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) is appealing a $315,000 fine and multiple player bans imposed by CAF following a chaotic AFCON final loss to Senegal on January 18.
The federation argues the sanctions are “non-conformant” with the actual events of the match, which saw pitch invasions, VAR interference, and laser use by fans.
Forward Ismael Saibari (3 matches) and captain Achraf Hakimi (2 matches) were suspended for unsporting behavior.
Charges include $200,000 for “inappropriate behavior” by ball boys and $100,000 for staff obstructing the VAR area during a disputed penalty.
Champions Senegal face even steeper fines totaling $615,000, with head coach Pape Thiaw receiving a five-game ban.
Both nations have now confirmed they will contest the rulings, prolonging the fallout from one of the most controversial finals in recent history.
