The Platinum Football Fans Association Uganda Limited has backed FUFA president Moses Magogo’s proposal urging institutions to financially support community football clubs rather than own teams outright, saying the approach could strengthen grassroots football and create more stable growth for the game.
Speaking at a press conference held at Papyrus Terrace in Kampala, association chairman Sultan Hakim Kivumbi said institutional backing for community sides, such as the Uganda Revenue Authority supporting Kitara FC, would help clubs remain rooted in their communities while improving financial stability.
He noted that structured financial support could boost youth development and long term sustainability across Ugandan football.
The association reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the local game and encouraged fans nationwide to continue actively backing Ugandan football at all levels.
Kivumbi also praised the competitiveness of the current Uganda Premier League season. Vipers SC lead the standings on 36 points, with three other teams tied on 30 points, a situation he said highlights the league’s growing balance.
He called on the Federation of Uganda Football Associations to schedule the postponed match between Kitara FC and Vipers FC, arguing that completing the fixture is important to maintain fairness in the title race.
