Ugandan golfer Barna Musanabera made national golf history on 14 February after striking a hole in one at Hole 12 during the Stanbic Match Play qualifiers at Entebbe Club, winning a Toyota Corolla Cross Hybrid.
The ace is recognised as the first time a woman in Uganda has won a car from a hole in one, immediately becoming the standout moment of the 2026 qualifying event that attracted 246 players competing under a medal format.
Musanabera’s day carried added weight beyond the prize as she also topped Ladies Group A with 68 points ahead of Lillian Koowe.
Esther Aganyira won Ladies Group B with 65 points while Peace Hellen finished runner up.
In the men’s competition, Ivan Arinaitwe claimed Group A on 68 points with Isaac Mariera second, Charles Odere won Group B ahead of Serwano Walusimbi, while Jamil Maningi led Group C followed by Alex Owor.
Side bet honours went to Evelyne Atukunda and Tesfaye Gurmu Hayu for nearest to the pin in the ladies and men’s categories respectively, with longest drives won by Martha Babirye and Albert Gitta.
