Africa’s top contenders, Ghana and Nigeria, have advanced to the final stage of the 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers following decisive weekend victories.
A 63rd-minute strike by Priscilla Mensah secured for Ghana a 1-0 away win over South Africa, sending the Black Princesses through 3-2 on aggregate.
Goals from Chinaza Kindness Ifeanyi and Precious Oscar earned Nigeria a 2-1 away win in Senegal (3-1 aggregate).
Meanwhile, Tanzania overturned a first-leg deficit against Kenya, winning 1-0 and then triumphing 3-1 on penalties.
Eight teams remain, but only four will qualify for the World Cup in Poland. The final home-and-away fixtures are scheduled for May 1–10, 2026:
• Ghana vs. Uganda
• Nigeria vs. Malawi
• Cameroon vs. Tanzania
• Cote d’Ivoire vs. Benin
Other nations advancing include Cameroon, Benin, Malawi, and Cote d’Ivoire, setting the stage for a dramatic final showdown this spring.
