The knockout phase features a dominant North African contingent alongside resilient contenders from Central Africa.

USM Alger sailed through Group A without a single loss, finishing with 14 points while Wydad AC and CR Belouizdad both dominated their respective groups, each collecting a massive 15 points.
Egypt’s Al Masry snatched the final qualification spot by edging out South Africa’s Kaizer Chiefs on goal difference.
