The Uganda Rugby Union has congratulated the Kenya Rugby Union following the successful staging of the HSBC 7s Division 2 tournament, describing the event as professionally delivered and beneficial for regional rugby development.
In a statement released Sunday, URU president Godwin Arinaitwe Kayangwe, alongside honorary secretary Peter Odong, praised the hosts for their organization and commitment to the sport.
The union said the tournament reflected Kenya’s dedication to rugby growth and strengthened sporting ties within East Africa.
URU noted that the smooth execution of the competition helps raise standards across the region while boosting visibility for East African rugby on the global stage.
The statement also highlighted the shared responsibility of regional unions to nurture emerging talent and promote cooperation beyond on-field rivalry.
“These efforts continue to inspire young athletes and strengthen the sporting bond that unites our nations and our people within the East African region,” the statement read.
Argentina’s women and Germany’s men won the Nairobi leg of the HSBC SVNS 2 with Kenya’s men finishing third.
