FUFA Moves to Inspect Over 100 Registered Academies After Application Phase Closes

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations has moved into the inspection phase of its academy registration process after more than 100 academies completed their applications.

Football Development Director Bashir Mutyaba confirmed that the registration window has successfully concluded and that FUFA will now begin physical inspections in line with its academy regulations.

“I’m glad to give you an update that over 100 academies are registered after responding to our call. The next step now is that those academies will be inspected physically as per the rules and regulations,” Mutyaba said.

He explained that an experts panel appointed by FUFA will conduct nationwide visits to assess whether each academy meets the required operational standards.

“The experts panel will go physically to those academies to inspect the requirements that the academies need to fulfil,” he noted.

The inspection process forms a central part of FUFA’s academy licensing framework, aimed at ensuring that only institutions that meet set standards are integrated into the structured football development pathway.

Once inspections are completed, FUFA will publish the list of academies that satisfy the criteria. Those approved will receive official certification from the federation.

“Thereafter, a list of the approved academies will be published to the public and the approved academies will receive a certificate of registration,” Mutyaba stated.

Approved academies will then be forwarded to the National Council of Sports for formal licensing under the National Sports Act, a step that formalises their status within the national sports governance framework.

“The approved academies will also be recommended to the National Council of Sports to get a licence,” he added.

The process marks a significant stage in FUFA’s efforts to strengthen grassroots football structures and standardise academy operations across the country.
