Uganda Cricket Association in partnership with Kansai Plascon, the shirt sponsors of the national team, the cricket cranes on Tuesday unveiled the jersey for the upcoming ICC Cricket Challenge League B tournament.
UCA entered a partnership with the paint makers a couple of months ago with the package being UGX 240 million for a duration of two years.
The launch was at the Plascon offices in Kampala, and in attendance was the national team including the playing and technical staff led by Laurence Mahatlane, the national team coach who is looking forward to the support from the 12th man.
“We are excited to be playing at home after nine months and are looking forward to the home crowd being our 12th man on the field. It is always a privilege to represent more than 40 million people,”
On the task at hand, Mahatlane is confident of his side delivering the goods.
“Our focus is on one game at a time and on our processes. Last year we had equaled the World Record on the number of T20I wins and lost our 12th game by one run to Kenya before we picked it up for another five wins in a row. So, I believe we understand tournament cricket.”
The three-round tournament gets underway on Friday as Uganda takes on Jersey at the Lugogo Cricket Oval at 10 AM.
Uganda leads Group B with 10 points ahead of Hong Kong in second place. Bermuda is bottom of the table with no point.
Uganda will be aiming at maintaining that position ahead of the third round that will be played in Jersey in August as they look to qualify for the 2023 World Cup that will be hosted by India.
