Tanzania has officially launched a robust security strategy to ensure a safe environment for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The AFCON 2027 National Committee recently met with Valeroo de Divitiis, the UN’s Head of Sports Security, to align local preparations with international safety standards.
Acting Director of Sports Development, Boniface Tamba, emphasized that the country is focused on:
• Modernizing Stadiums: Upgrading infrastructure and crowd control systems.
• Risk Management: Conducting detailed assessments for all venues.
• Inter-Agency Coordination: Syncing law enforcement with sports organizers.
Committee Chairperson Leodgar Chila Tenga noted that top-tier security is essential to showcasing Tanzania’s ability to host major global events.
By taking these proactive steps now, the nation aims to set a new African benchmark for tournament safety and organization.
