CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe has announced a massive financial boost for African club football, raising the 2025/26 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League winner’s prize to $6 million, a 50% increase from last year.
The CAF Confederation Cup winner will also see a 100% payday jump, pocketing $4 million.
Since 2021, prize money for the continent’s top two club competitions has skyrocketed:
• Champions League: $2.5M to $6M (140% increase)
• Confederation Cup: $1.25M to $4M (220% increase)
To ensure the entire ecosystem thrives, CAF has doubled solidarity payments. Now, 130 participating clubs, even those eliminated in the preliminary stages, receive $100,000 to offset costs and improve competitiveness.
The 2026 Finals
• Confederation Cup: 9 May & 16 May
• Champions League: 15 May & 24 May
With over $42 million now distributed per season, African club football is officially hitting a record-breaking financial stride.
