Kitara will host Buhimba United Saints at the newly-constructed Hoima City Stadium on Friday, March 13, 2026, after the Uganda Premier League secretariat approved a venue change from Royals Park in Butema.
The decision followed a request from Kitara and was confirmed in a letter dated January 9, 2026 from Uganda Premier League CEO Bernard Bainamani to Kitara chief executive Joshua Atugonza. The match will kick off at 4:00 PM.
The secretariat confirmed that Hoima City Stadium met all hosting and operational requirements and notified stakeholders of the change.
Friday’s contest, which is the Bunyoro Derby, will mark the first Uganda Premier League match at the 20,000 seat Hoima City Stadium. The facility was officially opened on December 24, 2025 in a ceremony presided over by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Both Kitara and Buhimba have shared Royals Park as their home ground this season. The reverse fixture ended in a 1-0 victory for Buhimba at the Park, with Edson Agondeze scoring the winner.
The striker has since switched sides and joined Kitara, a move that adds fresh intrigue to Friday’s encounter.
Kitara enter the derby in strong form. They sit second on the Uganda Premier League table with 40 points, four behind leaders Vipers SC. Before hosting Buhimba, Kitara travel to Rwamwanja Stadium on Tuesday to face Mbarara City.
Buhimba, on the other hand, approach the match under pressure near the bottom of the standings, sitting in 14th place with 15 points, two above the relegation zone.
The side suffered a 1-0 defeat to Maroons in their most recent outing and host BUL at the Royals Park, Butema on Tuesday before Friday’s clash.
