Former SC Villa presidential aspirant Farouk Meywa says he will take the club’s current president Omar Ahmed Mandela Hussein to court in a dispute over the leadership of the record Ugandan champions.
Meywa’s decision follows the declaration by the club’s electoral committee chairperson Brian Kajubi, who confirmed Hussein as president for another five year term.
The announcement has triggered a disagreement within the club over the legitimacy of the process and the direction of the leadership.
Meywa argues that Mandela should not continue leading the club, citing what he describes as a lack of significant progress during his time in charge.
“Mandela Hussein is not the right person to continue leading Sports Club Villa because he has been in power for years but there is no major development for the club, not even a playground for the team,” Meywa said.
He maintains that the club has not achieved meaningful development under the current leadership and believes the transition of power should follow proper procedures.
Meywa says the matter will now be handled through the courts as he seeks to challenge the decision that confirmed Mandela in office.
