The fourth edition of the I&M Bank Katogo Golf Series gets underway today, Saturday March 14, at the par 71 course of , marking the official start of the 2026 season.
Organisers expect a strong turnout for the season opener after a wave of early registrations during the week. The tournament returns after a short break and introduces a new competition format, ‘It’s Up To Me’, which will be played for the first time in the series.
Under the format, all players in a group tee off before one designated player selects the spot from which everyone will play their second shot.
While the rule applies only to the second shot, the decision can influence the outcome of the round. If the chosen ball is out of bounds, the affected players must return to the tee and hit their third shot. Winners will be determined by the lowest nett scores at the end of play.
Katogo Captain Elly Kibuka Mukasa said the organisers were ready for the opening event and expected a packed course.
“We are fully prepared for this weekend. From the pace of the online registrations, we anticipate a packed course. Our promise is to deliver a memorable day for everyone, both on the course and beyond it. And when it comes to the 19th hole experience, our partners have truly pulled out all the stops to ensure the season begins in style,” he said.
Players competing today will battle for prizes in the men’s and ladies’ categories as well as awards from various side bets across the course.
There is also a major incentive on offer, with golfers having the chance to win a brand new courtesy of , insured by , if anyone records a hole in one during the tournament.
