Chelsea have been fined a record £10m and given a suspended transfer ban after admitting to £47m in undisclosed payments to unregistered agents and third parties between 2011 and 2018.
The Premier League said the breaches occurred under Roman Abramovich’s ownership but were self‑reported after Todd Boehly’s consortium took over in 2022. The fine was halved from £20m due to Chelsea’s cooperation.
The club also faces a nine‑month academy transfer ban and a £750,000 fine for irregular youth registrations between 2019 and 2022.
High‑profile signings linked to the payments include Eden Hazard, Samuel Eto’o, Willian, David Luiz, Ramires, Andre Schurrle and Nemanja Matic, though no wrongdoing is alleged against the players.
Chelsea stressed they remain compliant with financial rules and said they treated the matter “with the utmost seriousness.”
