Pep Guardiola has confirmed James Trafford will start in goal for Manchester City in Sunday’s Carabao Cup final at Wembley.
The 23‑year‑old, signed from Burnley last summer for £27m, has featured mainly in domestic cups after Gianluigi Donnarumma’s arrival pushed him out of the league side.
Guardiola praised Trafford’s attitude but gave no guarantees about his long‑term role. “They have to be ready,” he said.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta refused to reveal whether David Raya or Kepa Arrizabalaga will play, calling the final “one of the defining moments” of their season as the Gunners chase multiple trophies.
City trail Arsenal by nine points in the Premier League, but Guardiola downplayed any link between Sunday’s result and the title race.
