Bunyoro Province and West Nile battled to a goalless draw in their FUFA Drum quarterfinal first-leg clash on Saturday at Royals Park.
In a tense and evenly matched contest, both sides struggled to carve out clear scoring opportunities, leaving the tie finely poised ahead of the decisive return leg.
With nothing to separate them, Bunyoro will now travel to West Nile for the second leg on March 28, where the aggregate winner will book a place in the semifinals.
Elsewhere, 2019 champions Acholi were held to a 1-1 draw by Busoga at Booma Grounds. Dickson Matama put Busoga ahead before Brian James Obedi struck back for the hosts.
Quarterfinal action continues on Sunday, March 22, with Teso hosting Lango, while record winners Buganda take on Tooro in another key fixture.
The FUFA Drum is an annual province-based tournament designed to celebrate Uganda’s cultural heritage and ancestry.
