Senegal’s Idrissa Gueye says he is willing to hand back his team’s Africa Cup of Nations medals to Morocco if it helps calm tensions after CAF stripped Senegal of their 2025 title.
Senegal beat Morocco 1-0 in January’s final, but CAF later overturned the result, citing Senegal’s 15‑minute walk-off during a disputed penalty incident.
Morocco were awarded a 3-0 win and declared champions.
“A football match is won on the pitch. We did what we had to do,” Gueye told Canal+ after Everton’s 3-0 win over Chelsea.
“We deserve to be African champions. Titles are won on the pitch, not in offices.”
The midfielder, who captained Senegal in the final, also criticized his federation’s decision to appeal the ruling, saying he would have preferred not to contest it.
