Coco Gauff reached her first Miami Open semifinal with a gritty 6-3, 1-6, 6-3 win over Belinda Bencic.
The 22-year-old, fresh off an arm injury at Indian Wells, dug deep in front of her home crowd to outlast the Swiss 12th seed.
“I didn’t think I’d be in the semis, so I’m proud of myself,” Gauff said.
She now faces Czech 13th seed Karolina Muchova, who beat Canadian Victoria Mboko. Gauff holds a 5-0 record against Muchova but insists past results don’t matter: “Every match can go either way.”
