Jannik Sinner stretched his record run of consecutive sets won at ATP Masters 1000 events to 28, beating American Alex Michelsen 7-5, 7-6 (7-4) to reach the Miami Open quarter-finals.
The world number two, who surpassed Novak Djokovic’s mark earlier this week, rallied from 2-5 down in the second set to secure victory.
He now faces Frances Tiafoe, with a possible semi-final clash against Alexander Zverev looming.
Sinner, champion in Miami in 2024, remains the only former winner in the draw and is closing in on Carlos Alcaraz at the top of the rankings after the Spaniard’s early exit.
