Uganda’s long-distance sensation Victor Kiplangat is set to headline the 2026 Schneider Electric Marathon de Paris on Sunday, April 12, as he continues his pursuit of global dominance in marathon running.
The reigning 2023 world marathon champion will join more than 60,000 runners tackling the 42.195km course through the French capital.
Starting at the Arc de Triomphe, the race will sweep down the Champs-Élysées, cut across Rue de Rivoli, and pass the Eiffel Tower before looping back to finish at the Arc de Triomphe, a scenic yet grueling test of endurance.
Kiplangat arrives in Paris with an impressive résumé. He captured gold at the Commonwealth Games marathon, famously overcoming a late navigational error near the finish line to secure victory, a moment that showcased his resilience and mental strength under pressure.
For Ugandan athletics fans, his presence in Paris is more than symbolic. It represents a chance to see their world champion take on one of Europe’s most prestigious marathons, with hopes high that Kiplangat can deliver another performance worthy of his growing reputation.
As Paris prepares to host one of the largest marathon fields globally, all eyes will be on Kiplangat to see if he can add another chapter to his remarkable journey.
