Kylian Mbappé scored his 56th international goal to lead France to a 2-1 win over Brazil in a friendly at Gillette Stadium.
The Real Madrid star chipped Ederson on 31 minutes, moving within one of Olivier Giroud’s all-time France record. Despite Dayot Upamecano’s red card early in the second half, Hugo Ekitike doubled the lead before Gleison Bremer pulled one back for Brazil.
France, World Cup winners in 2018 and finalists in 2022, held firm to secure victory ahead of group matches against Senegal, Norway and a play-off qualifier. Mbappé will have the chance to equal Giroud’s record when France face Colombia on Sunday.
Brazil, missing several key players, now turn to their next test against Croatia in Orlando.
